Apple Store — Ku’damm 317/365

I had to go yesterday and today to have my laptop checked. You wouldn’t expect that the first company in the world valued over a trillion dollars, a real corporation, would hire people completely tattooed, like this guy. But the IT industry is relaxing many stupid pejudices from the past. Still, I felt strange when the guy asked me if he could use the informal “du” (tú) instead of the formal “Sie” (usted). Fuck: I’m Mexican, I only use the du/tú, but I got so deep into the German mentality and culture, that my instinctive reaction was to feel uncomfortable, which is bullshit and something that would never ever happen when I speak Spanish. It was worth observing that you not only learn a language, you also carry with you all the cultural background, even if it’s contrary to your values. I replied: “No problem!”, but I felt that German rigidity is taking over silently...
