When he moved to Berlin in 1914, Einstein rented a flat in this building. Here his marriage with Mileva fall apart, and one sad day he came back home just to find out that she had left and taken the kids with her. Einstein was devastated and he cried the rest of the day and that night. Mileva went to Fritz Haber’s place, which is three blocks award, and after a month left to Zürich for good. At least he was able to say goodbye to his kids at the train station, he wrote.
