One of the things that strike you the most when you come to Germany for the first time is to notice that the whole country is shut down on Sundays and after 6pm. Nothing more abstruse to German traditions as the 24/7 American mentality. Coming from a land where you can find tacos with guacamole anytime, where convenience stores are on every block and always open, it is hard to get used to the fact that not even pharmacies are open at night. The most conspicuous exception is McFit, a gym chain which opens 24/7. Being still jetlagged, I went early in the morning to see how are the vibes there. It’s a game changer to know that the gym (or whatever service you might be akin to) opens all night, even if you don’t need it on a daily/nightly basis.
